Social Networking Site - Hi5, Facebook, Twitter, etc....

Vi recentemente uma reportagem sobre o twitter. Ashton Kutcher e a CNN (na pessoa do Larry King) desafiaram-se há uns tempos. Quem chegaria primeiro ao número de 1 Milhão de seguidores no twitter??


I recently saw a report regarding the Ashton Kutcher and CNN (through Larry King) twitter challenge; the challenge was regarding which account would get first to 1 Million followers.


E era um dos temas que eu queria falar. Os porquês destas redes sociais/comunidades e as suas consequências e as suas vantagens.


And due to this extensive coverage of King Kutcher challenge led me to antecipate one of themes that I really wanted to talk about - the reasoning of these social networking communities and their consequences.


HI 5, Facebook, Twitter, My Space, You tube etc. é brutal a velocidade com que se espalham notícias actualmente. Eu já fui "víctima" aquando de um jogo que eu organizei na Rússia. De repente, um repórter Italiano (o jogo envolvia a Juventus) estava no centro da cidade e assitiu e fotografou uma explosâo de um carro perto na Estaçâo de comboios. Passado 4 horas tinha minha Santa mãezinha ao telefone e eu dizer-lhe que não houve bomba nenhuma e que o jogo não ia ser adiado por motivo de terrorismo tchecheno!!! O resto da organizaçao do jogo também foi surreal---dizermos aos media o que se tinha passado versus a especulação Italiana. Falar com o árbitro, etc.


O que se passou foi que um russo encontrou nos arredores de S. Petersburgo resto de armas da Segunda Guerra Mundial e resolveu pô-las na mala do carro para vender no mercado negro....e BUM! uma mina terrestre com 60 anos explodiu e ele faleceu.



HI 5, Facebook, Twitter, My Space, You tube etc. it is crazy the speed that news spread. I was already a "victim" once. I was working on match in Russia and an Italian reporter covering Juventus FC was at the city centre and took a picture and reported about a car explosion near the train station. FOUR HOURS after I had my poor mummy on the phone and I had to tell her that there wasn't any bom and that the match was not going to be postponed due to tchechenian terrorists threats.

What actually happened was actually somehting that sometimes happen in St. Petersburg. There are antique robbers that search the outskirts of St. Petersburg for WW II antiques, including weapons. This guy found some weapons (including land mines) and had it in the car to sell them in the black market. BUM!!! a 60 year old land mine exploded and he passed away.

Mas voltando às redes sociais. note-se que eu tenho uma conta no Facebook e msn que utilizo constantement e também no Star Tracker e HI5 que actualizo volta e meia. E devoro o You Tube. é maravilhoso encontrar amigos da primária no ecrã, manter contactos com pessoas que vejo poucas vezes e sabe o que eles andam a fazer. E o You Tube mudou muita coisa para muitas pessoas e indústrias.

Going back to the networks, yours trully is an havid user of Facebook, You Tube and Msn. And not so much of HI5 and startracker. It is fantastic to find friends from primary school in the screen, keep in touch with friends and family and knowing what they are doing. And You Tube changes lifes and habits and impacted industries.

Mas exsite um MAS. Basicamente, se se quiser vê-se televisão no computador, conversa-se no computador, trablha-se no computador, lê-se noticias no computador, vê-se filmes no computador. E o que é que isto substitui? TV (que normalmente se pode ver com mais que uma pessoas), cafés e outros sítios de interacçâo conjunta, jornais nos cafés...etc. O que se perde é a interacçâo com pessoas.....Nâo se passa dos 8 aos 80 mas.

BUT there is a BUT. With a PC you can see TV, chat and communicate with friends, work alone, see movies etc. And that means that there is less of seing TV with somebody else, talk in person with friends, scheduling weekends with people that you don't see for a long time. It is made at the expense of interpersonal relationship. Ok...it is not blck and white....BUT.

O que me preocupa é as gerações que vêm aì que teclam rápido, mas não conseguem desenvolver defesas, mecanismos de relacionamento com outras pessoas. Não sabem se elas estâo tristes, a mentir,etc. falam menos e escrevem mais (normalmente mal).

E entre os 10 e os 25 é isto que se deve fazer (acho eu): Conhecer ininterruptamente mutia gente, diferente, que se confia ou que nos magoa, etc. E não estar a passar a maioria do seu tempo numa bolha onde tudo o que se quer dizer, escreve-se. E é por isso, mais pensado, mais frio, menos real. O que nao corresponde com a bidinha que vem a seguir. a bidinha de amores, compromissos e trabalhos.

What worries me is that the coming generations which are quick typers, but do not have time to develop defenses, mechanismas of relationship with other people. Do not know if they are sad, lying, happy....speak less and write more (usually worst). between 10 and 25 years old, waht I think people should do is meet people, a lot of people, different people who lie, who you can trust, who cheat, who hurt. And not spending the majority of your time in a bubble where the things you think, you must write. and therefore, you can think thoroughly, it less personal, more cold, less real. And the bubble is REALLY different to the life that comes next, from love and heartbrakes, and compromises and work.
